Loss creates a distinct before & after in life.
When we lose a loved one, it can feel like we are navigating a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar.
Early grief can be overwhelming, isolating, and disorienting.
You may wonder if what you’re feeling is normal.
You may question how you’re supposed to move forward when everything has changed.
The truth is, there’s no map for grief. However, there are things we can do to make this difficult experience a little gentler.
What you’ll learn in this course will help create the necessary foundations that will allow you to integrate this loss & go on to live a full & meaningful life.
What you’ll learn:
Combining over 10 years of professional experience, this course offers:
Trauma-informed approaches
Flexible, self-paced learning
Practical tools for real-life application
Module 1: Managing Expectations in Grief
Understand the grieving process, set realistic expectations for yourself so that you can let go of self-judgement & confusion.
Understand “normal” & common reactions to early loss including the physical & biological impacts of grief
Explore comparison & release the pressure to “grieve correctly” so that you can meet yourself where you are.
Module 2: Thoughtful Self-Care in Grief
Explore ways to create a sense of safety and stability through holistic self care.
Explore what self care is in the context of grief, why it might not be working as well as it did before your loss
Understand why self care is the necessary first step before any processing & integration of loss can occur.
Module 3: Navigating Shifting Relationships
Understand why grief impacts friendships, family dynamics, and even identity.
Explore how to set boundaries, have difficult conversations & communicate your needs when people may not understand your grief.
Learn a framework that helps you feel more supported by the people around you (and gives you a sense of control in the face of shifting relationship dynamics).

A Gentle Guide to Early Grief
This course was born from our combined 10 years of experience supporting people through loss, grief, and trauma.
As a Grief Coach and a Trauma Therapist, we have companioned & supported hundreds of individuals navigating the raw, disorienting reality of early grief. We’ve seen firsthand the questions, the overwhelm, and the deep longing for a sense of stability.
Drawing from our expertise in grief education and trauma-informed care, we created this guide to offer gentle, compassionate support that will make a significant positive difference in how you’ll experience your grief over time.
A Gentle Guide to Early Grief
Facilitators
This self-paced course is a collaboration between Amelia Bradaric (Adventuring Loss) and Marie Goudreau (Empowered through Grief).
A Gentle Guide to Early Grief is meant for people grieving all types of losses. It fills a gap in the support being offered to grieving people by offering practical ways to tend to yourself in grief that are evidence-based, helpful & that help create the foundation for long-term integration and well-being.
Joining a support group may not meet every grieving person’s needs and with this in mind, this course offers support that can be followed at your own pace & in the privacy of your home.
We created this course because we recognize that each grieving individual is unique & that grief support should, therefore, be offered in many different ways.
Amelia is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor specializing in complicated grief, trauma and post traumatic growth, and the clinical director of Adventuring Loss (www.adventuringloss.com) – a virtual therapy clinic supporting people navigating the impacts of grief, trauma, life transitions and empowering people to live authentic, meaningful lives.
In 2015, Amelia lost her husband to homicide. She learned over time that when people are in pain, they do not need to be fixed or pushed to get better, faster. They need someone to come up alongside them to provide support as they process their experience and understand its impact(s) while they discover who they’re becoming.
Amelia is trauma trained and uses an integrative approach of DBT, IFS, Somatics, mindfulness techniques, and client-centered education. She guides her clients in slowly developing the foundation needed to face life’s challenges and, eventually, forge a new path.
In honor of her late husband, Amelia founded “The Igor Bradaric Foundation” which annually supports charities across Canada related to grief, victim support and restorative justice initiatives. She is a passionate advocate for victims' rights and works with various Canadian government agencies to create trauma-informed support and policy.
Amelia is a realist who believes in the depth and resiliency of the human spirit.

How Is This Course Different from Free Resources?
There are many free resources on grief, articles, podcasts, and social media posts, but they often provide fragmented, one-size-fits-all advice that leaves people overwhelmed, searching for what actually applies to them.
This course is different because:
✔️ It’s a structured path, not scattered advice. Free content often gives you pieces of the puzzle, but this course puts everything together in a clear, step-by-step way, so you don’t have to figure it out on your own.
✔️ It’s guided by experts in grief and trauma. Unlike generalized grief resources, this course was created by a grief expert and a trauma therapist, ensuring it’s trauma-informed, compassionate, and based on real-life experience helping grieving people.
✔️ It helps you apply what you learn. Free resources often give insight but don’t guide you on what to do next. This course includes journaling prompts, exercises, and self-reflection tools to help you take steps forward.
✔️ It’s designed for early grief.
✔️ It provides lifetime access, so you can return to it anytime.
This is not just more information, it’s a gentle, supportive framework to help you move through early grief with clarity, stability, and guidance.
